Shuttlecock

Once down on the Badminton court

two people went there to play the sport

The racquets had agreed to play

but the shuttlecock refused so I took him anyway

we both took our places on the two sides of the court

but the shuttlecock did not come so it looked like the game we had to abort

I tried to catch the cock

but he ran off around the court and refused to talk

I ran after him and tried to stop him

and said “what tiny eyes you have, you won’t be able to go to any film”

and he shouted back “Your ears look silly like they have been given a bad trim”

So I said, “Why are we talking about body parts?”

He replied “I want ‘stop hitting my nose’ time to start”

“You don’t even give me time to put my nose cover!”

So I let him and it turns out the process was even slower

after that, we could play

and the shuttlecock stopped being grumpy all-day
